Length-Weight Relationships of 52 Species from the South of Sicily (Central Mediterranean Sea)

The Length-Weight relationships (LWRs) of 52 species (14 never reported before) fishes, crustaceans and cephalopods living on the shelf upper slope off Southern Sicily are provided. Data were collected in framework International bottom trawl survey Mediterranean (MEDITS) South (Central Mediterranean), covering a time frame ranging from 2012 to 2019. Linear regressions significant for all (p < 0.05) with R2 values 0.86 0.99. intercept (a) LWRs ranged 0.0003 0.4677, while (b) 2.1281 3.306. Welch t-test, used evaluate differences between obtained those literature, revealed that most (about 55%) this study disagreement previously by other authors Strait Sicily. It is expected results will contribute filling knowledge gap fish populations area also assist fisheries scientists future stock assessment studies.
